News - Artificial Intelligence (AI)

OUK's Exciting News: A Degree in Artificial Intelligence (AI):

Assuming you work in the oil and gas industry (upstream or downstream), you will study and research AI applications concerned with smart/intelligent Oil & Gas field development and exploitation.

This degree candidate will concentrate on AI solutions, and case studies from oil companies who have successfully integrated or intend to integrate AI solutions into their best practice.

On his/her degree diploma, we would inscribe the speciic degree title (say, Master or Doctorate) plus his/her chosen thesis subject.

What is AI?

Artificial Intelligence (AI) may be defined as human-like cognitive intelligence, mimicked by machines, in contrast with the Natural Intelligence (NI) displayed by humans and other animals. The term "Artificial Intelligence" is applied when a machine mimics "cognitive" functions that humans associate with other human minds, such as "learning" and "problem solving".

Why do We Need AI?

This is a natural scientific and technological development in search of much faster, wider and deeper problem anticipation, identification, classification, analysis and resolution. AI helps to process and manipulate humongous amounts of data and information to come up with solutions to some of the most difficult and challenging problems facing humanity.

Examples of AI in Action:

  • Smart oil field development & life extension
  • Petrochemical plant operation & safety
  • Business continuity planning & management
  • Facility design, operation simulation & mantenance
  • System operation research, modelling & design
  • Hotel capacity planning & management
  • Transport capacity planning & management
  • Logistics' capacity planning & management
  • Supply chain & procurement planning & management
  • Disease diagnosis, modelling and cure
  • And hundreds of other examples...
